Day 8, San Pedro de Atacama, Rest day

Relaxing mainly. We met Andres, a Chilean motorcycle adventure rider who is camping next to us. He works for a few month in San Pedro as a tour guide and has travelled all over the world. Basically his tent and his KTM 950 Adventure is his home. He took us for a short off-road sunset ride up a hill next to San Pedro with amazing views.

Day 9, 105km, San Pedro de Atacama

Exploring the desert with Andres. Offroad only, finally! Nice litte tour around San Pedro after we’ve rewarded ourselves with a swim in a small laguna in the middle if the desert. Unreal! The tracks were mainly deep sand and rough terrain. Basically a preview what to expect in Bolivia but with much less altitude. Offroad like this in 4000-5000m altitude for hundreds of kms will be really challening. Bikes are doing good so far. Small tweeks here and there and we should be good to go for the next few weeks. Here and in Argentina is the last chance for workshop support in case we need it. No chance in Bolivia and Peru for that especially on our route.
